Sofia Vari began sculpting abstract figural pieces in 1978 but after meeting her husband, Fernando Botero, she became inspired by Latin American and Pre-Columbian art. She has created her own pieces of jewellery since 1988, mostly in contrasting gold and ebony or black marble to create striking pieces.
